Classes

More than simply an art gallery, the Voutellievre Arts Center also offers classes in various art forms. Learn to shape pottery, paint, or even play an instrument. Class openings vary by tutor availability and season. Please speak with the front desk for more information, and to see if you qualify for discounted or free tuition. Current classes can be found below.

Basics of Oil Painting

Learn from one of Ishgard's finest painters, Pierre Constaine, in this bi-weekly course that covers the basics of materials, arranging a canvas, and mixing paints to create light and shadow. At the end of the four sennight course you'll walk away with a finished, framed painting of your own.

Beginner Violin

Taught by Valka Rosewood, this course will instruct beginners in the art of the violin. Valka comes to the Center with a wide array of experience performing on stage at venues across Eorzea and is excited to offer courses for the public. Space is limited, please inquire at the Center for more information.


Store

The Arts Center offers materials for all manner of artistic endeavors, whether they be musical or visual. Paints, brushes, canvases, easels, replacement instrument strings and more are all available for purchase. Ask for a current inventory catalog at the front desk for all your art supply needs, and inquire if you qualify for discounted products.


About

Thanks for checking out the Arts Center! The space is open to the public for RP outside of planned functions so feel free to visit whenever you'd like and purchase art and music supplies from the front desk or look around the gallery. All transactions are made IC, and no gil is required. For IC RP purposes the center would be open during standard daylight business hours.If you're interested in teaching a class, having your artwork featured for a gallery night, or want to RP in the space with the owner, please message Evilie Voutellievre in-game. Please note that Evilie herself does not work at the Center but would be happy to meet with artists and others with an appointment. Thanks!

Welcome

Welcome to the grand opening of the Voutellievre Arts Center, and thanks for attending! Below you'll find information on the night as well as specific pieces of art you can discuss during the event if you'd like.

Details

- Music has been pre-recorded on an orchestrion for the evening and is playing throughout the venue. Some might find the style familiar with Felore Soleil on piano, Xiaohu Cao on koto, and Evilie Voutellievre singing. Listen to the playlist here.- Tables around the venue are filled with wine and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. Finger foods like cheeses, breads and meat are available on small platters to carry about the gallery with you (forks ARE provided, Kowa). Feel free to pick something up!- Transportation to the Center is provided for the grand opening. If your character resides in Ishgard they might see carriages taking people to the opening from various locales around Ishgard, including the Pillars, the Crozier, and the Brume. The hope is that providing transportation will make the venue more accessible for all.- Sign ups for classes (currently offering oil painting and violin) are also available. Talk to Evilie to learn more or read more in the main section of the Center's carrd.

Journey to the east

Visit Doma, the Steppe and Kugane in this Eastern exhibition featuring artists both new and old. From Hingan scrollwork and fearsome hannya masks, to Doman tapestries and Xaelic artifacts, this exhibit showcases the rich artistic heritage of the East. Featured works include paintings by Xinyue Tian and sculpture work by Soga Tadahira.

Ishgardian Oils

A staple of Ishgardian art, the oil painting has recorded the history of Coerthan culture and continues to be a medium that transcends time. From sweeping landscapes to stunning portraits, Ishgard is cross-examined in new ways in this exhibit detailing life in the north. Featured artists include Tressant Gradeux, Marie Yellevier and Garrd Myst.

The Artists

Artists featured in the gallery come from both within Ishgard and across the sea. Read a brief biography of each below.

Xinyue Tian - A Yanxian-born Kugane resident, Xinyue has been creating mixed media and traditional brush painting art since she was a child. She cites a love for the natural world and her dreams as inspiration for her pieces. Present day she creates art in her Kugane workshop and offers many pieces for sale there.Soga Tadahira - Born in a rural village outside of Kugane, Soga is a master of sculpture and fine art. His decorative wares are well known in Hingashi and beyond and have graced the halls of some of the most influential rulers of the era. He currently resides in his home village with his wife and children.Garrd Myst - A Brume-born painter, Garrd learned the basics of his trade from his father who painted signboards and merchant stalls to feed his family. He cites the working class as his inspiration to create 'real images of real people'. This is Garrd's first official exhibit. He currently resides in the Brume with his son.Marie Yellevier - A merchant's daughter of Ishgard, Marie has been painting since she was a young child. She largely focuses on portraiture, and has caught the eye of many noblewomen to paint their likeness. Her works can be found in noble manors and art shops across Ishgard. Prints of her works are available at the Center store.Lord Tressant Gradeux - A nobleman from a minor house of Fortemps, Lord Tressant has taken to painting still-life arrangements of flora. His budding enthusiasm for painting is only matched by his love for a good play. This is the Lord's first exhibit.

Perfumed Rise

Thavnair is an island known for its brilliant colors and storied contributions to the fields of alchemy and textiles. In this exhibit, sail across the Bounty to see the artisans who create some of the star's most impressive works. Garments, paintings and the art of alchemy are all on display in this limited time showing courtesy of Radz-at-Han's National Museum.

Dragonsong

Ishgard's history is a rich tapestry made of the events that have shaped a nation embroiled so long in war. Now, for the first time in one place, the fabric of Ishgardian life is explored in a never before seen exhibit featuring historical manuscripts, paintings, needlework and more that delve into the history of a thousand year conflict.

The Artists

Perfumed Rise ExhibitSatyavati - One of the foremost thought leaders in the field of alchemy, Satyavati resides in Yedlihmad and oversees a small team of astute researchers who study the lesser-known arts of their craft. He is perhaps best known for his 'tree of life' experiment in which the plant needs no soil or water to survive, and the fruit is said to contain healing properties.Arjuna Shevade - Though not an alchemist herself, Arjuna Shevade is an expert glassblower and artisan of alchemical containers and flasks. Her works are often utilized in royal commissions and for the elite of Radz-at-Han.Prashant Ayyar - A painter of tremendous skill for his young age, Prashant Ayyar resides in Radz-at-Han under the tutelage of his arts school and mentor. At ten and four years, he is the youngest artist to be featured in the exhibit and hopes to one day have his paintings featured in the royal gallery.Sayana Raj - One of the finest painters in her age, Sayana Raj created works that told the story of the people of Thavnair, their deities and the temples they prayed in. She is rumored to have painted some three thousand paintings in her lifetime, though many have been lost or destroyed since her death some two hundred turns ago.Sita Ojha - A creator of extravagant paintings and textiles, Sita Ojha's pieces now mainly reside in the national royal gallery of Radz-at-Han. However, many of their works were designated for public display in the wake of their death roughly one hundred turns ago and still hang in the open forums of Thavnair's capital.

Dragonsong ExhibitLamont Antreux - A weaver of noble house and orthodox tapestries, Lamont Antreux created standards and crests for units marching to war against the Dravanian horde. Few of his pieces survived the five hundred years since his death, though his works are able to be featured now at the Center on loan from the Holy See.Jacques Gillebert - A self-taught painter from Ishgard's Brume, Jacques Gillebert now resides in Foundation with his daughter and often has his works featured in local artist's spaces and theatres. This is his third official exhibit, and he has recently taken a commission to paint Lord Aymeric de Borel himself for a public works unveiling.Arbent Trescant - A painter from Ishgard's early founding, Arbent's works often feature heavy religious themes and scenes of war. He was one of the foremost painters of his era and is said to have inspired many young squires to take up arms against Ishgard's threats.Marie Danvilleux - An Inquisitor of the Holy See during the early years of the Dragonsong War, Marie Danvilleux was most known for her religious paintings and inkwork which were featured in the second edition of the Holy See's Enchiridion. She continued her contributions until her death in the year 528.Sylvaine Henry - A wartime painter who traveled with soldiers across Coerthas, Sylvaine Henry was one of the few recorders of battlefield history in a visual format. He was witness to some of the greatest heroic feats accomplished by Ishgardians, as well as their losses. He painted scenes on the front until he was killed in battle in the year 610.Dillion Ulvont - A former armorer turned artist, Dillion Ulvont is an up-and-coming painter and illustrator who resides in the Brume with his sister. This is his first exhibit, and his works often feature arms and armor worn by knights of Ishgard. He is currently working on a catalogue of detailed armor designs that will be published by the Scholasticate next summer.Lady Estelle de Jardineaux - The youngest of the House de Jardineaux, Lady Estelle learned her skill with charcoal and oils from her late brother, Lord Alois who passed during the Dragonsong War. Wholly devoted to Ishgard's cause, she has served as an Inquisitor since her brother's passing. This is her first exhibit.

Sea's bounty

The seas surrounding Eorzea and abroad provide sustenance and a means of travel and trade--vital industries for city-states and kingdoms to operate efficiently. In this exhibit we look at art that celebrates the waters surrounding us, as well as the denizens that call the sea home. View watercolors, charcoals, models and even a few of the wavekin themselves in this one of a kind, limited run exhibit.

The Artists

Sea's Bounty ExhibitRogier Miller - A Limsan resident, Rogier has been creating paintings of the sea and its coasts for over thirty turns. An avid fisherman, Rogier utilizes the vibrant colors found in wavekin to inspire his artwork. He currently resides in Limsa Lominsa with his wife and son.Tamira Aldcroft - A Gridanian woman of thirty turns, Tamira moved from the Twelveswood to La Noscea in her early twenties and never looked back. The sea has always called to her ever since she saw a painting of the Othard coastline from a traveling merchant. She primarily creates watercolors and charcoal sketches of wavekin and the Rothlyt Sound.Lady Inquisitor Estelle de Jardineaux - A prodigious painter since the tender age of twelve winters, she honed her artistic prowess under the guidance of her late brother, Lord Alois de Jardineaux. Embracing his style with unwavering devotion, she ensures that his spirit continues to thrive in every stroke of her brush, crafting a legacy that transcends time.Other exhibit pieces provided courtesy the Limsan Seafarer's Association and the Fishermen's Guild of Limsa Lominsa.Ishgardian Oils ExhibitGarrd Myst - A Brume-born painter, Garrd learned the basics of his trade from his father who painted signboards and merchant stalls to feed his family.
